What once seems to be easy compositing, turns into tedious rotoscoping, full 3D room, and 3D camera tracking… What!?

It took me 2 days to finish the opening shot ( where actors walk toward the ceiling )
The first part of the shot is real room, but after he get up from the floor, it is replaced by CG room. Spent so many hours matching the carpet.

Blender was used (…for the majority of time) to reconstruct to room in 3D, in which the ‘sticky texture’ really helps.

New AE CS5 feature really helps a lot in rotoscoping. otherwise it wouldn’t be only 2 days.

Just came across my early work as a visual effect artist… might be junior days.

Quite fancy effects considering that most of the films back then still edited in analog.

There was an attempt to try the matrix’s bullet time… without success, though.
One of , if not the first student’s film which make good use of stereo sound.

Unfortunately, for the most of us who have Geforce class card, the only Geforce supported by now is GTX285.

Wow!

tested on my – somewhat weak – 9500GT.

I’m able to playback 3 layers of UltraKey-ed  DV footage in realtime.

4th layer looks like being realtime … or almost.

But the timeline turns red, that might be the limit implemented in the engine itself because I heard that even GTX285 is hitting this limit too.

While playback, CPU usage was never hit 20% … Amazing!

base model consist of around 4000 poly.

achieving such high details by using normal and displacement maps.

GLSL viewport is a pleasure… almost like working with finished rendering.

Another project to get into Blender.
I didn’t use any reference photo cos this is my comic style
based on my design of a character in ‘Treen’ which I remember by heart.

Trying to achieve the look of  ’Cloudy with a chance of meetballs’

should get much better once the texture is done…
